Production of pumpkin seed oil
Pumpkin seed oil is a valuable source of nutrients, containing a concentrated form of the seed's beneficial compounds. Just 1-2 tablespoons a day can do a lot for your physical and mental well-being. The basis for a really good quality oil is carefully selected pumpkin seeds: fresh, green seeds are best for pressing, while the worn, white seeds are easily damaged and should not be used in oil presses.
Cold pressing
Cold-pressed oil is extracted from the kernel at low temperatures without additives. During pressing, the temperature should not exceed 40℃ to avoid damage to nutrients and flavour. To this end, the process is constantly monitored and the pressing speed and pressure are adjusted depending on the temperature. The extracted oil is filtered through textile filters and then placed in dark jars to preserve its quality, protected from light and air. For home storage, a cool, dark place is also recommended. The residues (oil shavings) from the cold-pressed oil production process are not wasted: they can be used to make flour, animal feed or even fish bait.
